Spring Meeting Hathersage, UK

The ICAR Medical Commission (MEDCOM) met in Hathersage in the Peak District in the UK for their annual Spring Meeting on May 21st and 22nd. This year we joined the international community of mountain medicine with the International Society of Mountain Medicine (ISMM) and the Union Internationale des Associations d’Alpinisme (UIAA) during the preceding XIV World Congress on Mountain Medicine.
Our actual working meeting was held at Edale Mountain Rescue Base in Hope. The Team of Edale accompanied us through our day and granted us insights into their rescue base set up and missions. We thank them for splendid catering, the best possible support we could have asked for and a wonderful evening with excellent local food after a hard days work.
We were blessed with beautiful sunshine and the begin of a summer heat wave and we had the opportunity to engage in hikes and climbs along the Peak District ridges accompanied by rangers who could tell many a tale about the history of the region and members of Edale Mountain Rescue who spoiled us with ice cream upon reaching the peak whilst sharing mountain rescue stories with us.
The MEDCOM Spring meeting was a memorable and successful event and we like to thank everyone who supported us.
